Parents/Guardians of Jr. High Students, last Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, marked the Midterm of 1st Quarter, which ends on Oct. 20, 2023. Please be sure to check your email TONIGHT to see your child's Q1 grade progress report from Lumen. Reminder to all students and parents that you can log into Lumen to check your student's grades and attendance in real time. Thank you for your time and support for your child's education.
The 8th grade girls basketball team will play before the 7th graders tonight in LaHarpe. The 8th grade game starts at 5:30 and the 7th game will follow.
The Sports Boosters Hog Roast will be held Saturday, Sept. 16th, from 5-7 p.m. at the Nauvoo-Colusa Elementary cafeteria. Students in grades 5th-8th should turn in the money from the tickets they've sold and all unsold tickets to the office by Thursday, Sept. 14th. Please remind your student to see Vicky to sign up for a shift to help out at the event. We also need adult help to cut up meat on Saturday at 9 a.m. and we need parents to volunteer to bring desserts and to help at the event, also. Take outs are available that evening. Mrs. Belshaw had students learning to hula hoop in her K-6 P.E. classes. She created a class hula hoop competition. In one picture, Mrs. Belshaw posted the best hula hooper students for each class and in the other picture is Mrs. Belshaw and Sadie Gallaher, the 2023 NCES "Best Hula Hooper!" Mrs. Belshaw presented Sadie with a small trophy and Sadie put on a hula hooping display for all of NCES to see. Congrats, Sadie, on this honor! Thank you, Mrs. Belshaw, for teaching students to hula hoop :)
Next week is homecoming week for the West Hancock Titans! We will celebrate at NCES with dress-up days.

No students are allowed in the building prior to 7:40 am. Parents dropping off students as Car Riders must enter/exit campus from the South entrance. The North entrance is for BUSSES ONLY! Car Riders enter school via East doors by Jr. High Gym. All Bus Riders enter/exit school via the Northwest double doors by Jr. High Gym. All Visitors must enter/exit the Main Office door on East side of the building. Viking Time (Announcements) starts at 8:05 am. Warning bell rings at 8:05 am. School starts at 8:10 am. School dismisses at 2:55 pm. Miscellaneous Info: Car Riders get picked up on the East side of NCES via the East doors by the Jr. High Gym. Follow the flow of traffic. Stay in your car. Drive slowly. PreK parents are approved to escort their child into PreK for the First Day only. Jr. High Student Schedules will be passed out in Homerooms. School Picture Day is August 25th. This is an opportunity for students and parents to tour the building, drop off school supplies, and meet our staff before school starts on Monday, August 21, 2023. Congratulations to our 8th Graders for being promoted! We hosted an 8th Grade Promotion on May 19th at NCES. Our staff thanks all students and families for attending this event. Thank you to Ava Gibson for delivering a wonderful speech! Thank you to Mr. Scott Schneider for serving as our awesome speaker. Thank you to Mr. Raymond Siegrist for presenting the Citizenship Awards, on behalf of the local American Legion, to Jonathan Lucie and Anna Haas. Thank you to Ms. Roch and our Jr. High Chorus for performing. Thank you to Mrs. Kreps for leading our promotion program. Thank you to Mrs. Hubbs for reading student names. Thank you to Dr. Young for handing out certificates. Schools out for the summer so it was lights out in Mrs. Belshaw's P.E. classes on the last day of school. The kids jump roped, bowled and had an egg hunt. The elementary students are ready for an "eggstraordinary" summer!!!
